Adding Page Numbers in Microsoft Word 2007 Document

Open the document first which you would like to add page numbers to.  Go to Insert tab at the top section (the menu bar) of the document, select the page number icon, probably in the fifth blog from the left.

Click on it. A drop down will come up, select where you want to put the page numbers. As you do the selection, another sidebar pops up. Now select at which position on the pages you would like to have your page number shown.

After selecting of headers & footer tools of page number from Design tab, you will have numerous options to customize the format and appearance of the page number texts.

Adding Page Numbers in Microsoft Word 2010 Document

When it comes to Word 2010, things are almost the same and identical as in the version 2007. However, the only difference can be found in the Print Preview option in which you will have considerably more options given in Backstage view.
